People and Technology
The Centre for Appropriate Technology (CAT) works with people and technology in Australia's remote Indigenous communities. CAT provides practical and participatory problem solving approaches to enable communities of Indigenous people to access the information, services and skills required to live safe and happy lives.
Incorporated in 1989 in the Northern Territory as a non-profit association, CAT is independently governed by an Indigenous Board. The organisation includes a number of 'business groups' which operate in different, though sometimes overlapping areas and which are all supported by a central administration service (Corporate Services). These groups are:
- Bushlight
- Projects and Regional Services Team (PARST)
- Technical Resource Group (TRG)
- Technical Skills Group (TSG)
- Policy Information and Communications Unit (PICU)
